Westside hosts fun day to raise funds to extend school
“This is a first for us because in 10 years we haven’t had a fun day or fund-raiser so there is so much excitement for us.”
Westside Primary School held their fun day on September 1 to raise funds for the expansion of the school.
The primary school caters for Grade One to Grade Four learners and is looking to have classes for Grade Fives next year.
The day started off with the setting up of tables and stalls at the school premises and later the children, together with their parents, started pouring in.
The children were very excited on this hot spring day to be spending it eating, getting face painted and playing on the school grounds.
“What they have here is very affordable for us to buy for ourselves and the children. The music is also nice. I am having a good morning so far,” said one parent who was enjoying a piece of cake.
“This is a first for us because in 10 years we haven’t had a fun day or fund-raiser so there is so much excitement for us,” said principal Soekie Pieters.
“We have received incredible feedback after asking for donations from parents to make this day possible. I can express how happy I am that the teachers, the parents and the children are all in one place,” she added.
The plans are underway and the school will have more classes next year thanks to all who contributed.
