ANC and community say no to women and child abuse
ANC fights against abuse of women and children.
In wrapping up Women’s Month, the ANC in Tembisa encouraged churches and the community at large to commit to fighting violence against women.
The ANC, community members and churches came together for a prayer session on August 23. They asked God for assistance in the fight against the abuse of women and children.
ANC deputy secretary in Emmangweni Zone Thabiso Mathekga said as leaders of society they must be at the forefront of fighting violence against women and children.
“We want to make sure that abuse does not find expression in our society.
“For us to be able to survive as a society we must be able to protect our women.”
He said for the community to assist in the fight, residents need to report cases of violence against women.
Secretary of ANC Hamon Ukulele Zone Reckson Hasani said they prayed for an end to the prevalent crisis of the killing of women.
He added that the session was “very successful”.
“We started early when other people were coming from work.
“To have more than 100 people attending means it was a successful programme,” said Hasani.
He said it would not end there.
“The ANC will have more programmes to engage pastors to pray for the country and pray for the leadership so that we can have a peaceful country,” he said.
