WATCH: Accident on Pretoria Road near Sir Pierre leaves drivers dazed

“I saw it coming, but there was nowhere I could move to,” one of the drivers involved said.

“I was scared someone had died, so I ran away.”

This is how father-of-two Eusebe Diabio from Glen Marais recalled the multi-vehicle accident he was involved in on the corner of Commissioner Street and Pretoria Road on Thursday morning.

Luckily, no serious injuries have been confirmed.

When Express arrived on the scene at around 8.30am, a silver Mitsubishi was on its side with the driver’s window face down on the tar road.

“There was a lot of traffic and the Mitsubishi tried to turn right into Commissioner Street from Pretoria Road,” Diabio, a payroll specialist, explained.

“A driver in a red Jaguar traveling along Pretoria Road towards the CBD crashed into the Mitsubishi.”

The impact caused the Mitsubishi to roll and it hit Diabio’s silver Mercedes. “I saw it coming, but there was nowhere I could move to. I thank God I survived,” Diabio said.

Also on scene was accountant Alfred Lekalakala from Tembisa, who was driving the Jaguar when the accident happened.

“The driver in the silver car suddenly came into the intersection and I smashed into him,” the father of two said, adding that the entire event felt surreal.

Malcom Banks from First Help said his team was first on the scene at around 8am, at which time the driver of the Mitsubishi was already removed from the car.

“As far as I know, there were no serious injuries,” Banks said.

Motema Papy, an electrical engineer who works close to the intersection, said traffic must be regulated on the busy corner. “We need traffic lights or something for the flow of traffic because accidents happen often here.”

Express has reached out to the metro police for comment. The driver of the Mitsubishi was not on the scene for comment.

“It all felt surreal,” said accountant Alfred Lekalakala from Tembisa, who was also involved in the crash.

“I saw it coming, but there was nowhere I could move to.” Glen Marais resident and father-of-two Eusebe Diabio said. He thanks God that he survived the crash.
