Tabitha Team distributes 649 handmade winter woollies

This is an amazing ministry which provides beautiful items to underprivileged children.

Nearly 650 handmade items, all made by a small group of women over the past year, were been handed out to needy organisations in Ekurhuleni.

The Tabitha Team is part of the outreach programmes run from Gateway Presbyterian Church, said Morag Davis, the team coordinator.

On April the 649 items, including 409 jerseys, 59 blankets and 181 small items (scarves, beanies) were packed at the church for distribution.

“We had a fantastic time of fellowship and laughter as we unpacked everything onto the tables, had a thank you lunch arranged by the church and then got down to the serious task of packing according to each home’s requirements,” said Davis.

“A gigantic well done to the Tabitha Team of around 20 to 25 regular members for all your hard work this year.

“This is an amazing ministry which provides beautiful items to underprivileged children and also gives very talented people the opportunity to utilise their gifts to benefit others. Thank you so much to Gateway Church for sponsoring this amazing ministry with funds to enable us to purchase wool that is required to allow our members to utilise their gifts.

“Thank you to Cynthia of The Wool Shoppe for her support of the Tabitha Team with regular discounts when we purchase the wool.

“While we are funded by the church, we always need additional wool. Please help us to help the less fortunate in our community by donating to The Tabitha Team. Any donations of wool (any ply can be utilised) or funds are gratefully received and can be dropped at the Gateway Presbyterian church office.”
