Temong man robbed after withdrawing burial money at Phumulani Mall

The police are appealing to members of the community who may have seen the suspects to come forward.

A complainant was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money at Temong Section. He went with another person to withdraw burial money from a bank at Phumulani Mall on the morning of April 12.

Tembisa SAPS communications officer Capt Ralidzhivha Manyadza said when they arrived at Temong Section, they alighted from the car and went into the yard. Before they could get into the house, two men confronted them. The men held them at gunpoint and demanded money. One of the suspects searched them and took the money and car keys from the complainant.

“They drove away with his car. The vehicle was later recovered at Difateng Section, which is just 1km from the scene. No one was injured,” said Manyadza.

The police are appealing to members of the community to transfer the burial money to a member of the bereaved family.

“Do not withdraw a large amount of cash, as there are people who follow you from the bank and when you reach your destination, they rob you of your money,” said Manyadza.
