Changes to online learner registration system benefit parents
Fedsas says it is happy with the changes made by the Gauteng Department of Education

Changes made to the online system for the registration of Grade 1 and 8 learners will be explained by the Gauteng MEC for Education at a media briefing on Sunday.
The online system is set to open on Monday at 8am after it had been postponed for a week.
Among others, Panyaza Lesufi will update on changes effected by the technical team in the system to accommodate concerns raised by some stakeholders regarding the implementation of the newly amended admissions regulations and feeder zones on the system.
The Federasie van Beheerliggame van Suid-Afrikaanse Skole (Fedsas) said it was satisfied with the changes made.
Paul Colditz, executive head of Fedsas, said they again met with the Gauteng Department of Education on May 15 and they were happy with the changes made to the system.
“We are satisfied that the platform now offers parents the choices as prescribed by the Constitution.
He said Fedsas manager education technology, Riaan van der Bergh, was continuously involved at several meetings and test runs done by the department.
“Fedsas and the education department worked together as partners to see to it that parents can make choices in the best interest of their children. The onus is now with parents to ensure stay informed regarding language policies and subjects choices at the schools they are interested in.”
Colditz said the department also added an appeal procedure which could be followed should parents not be happy with the results of admissions.
