Mothers empowerment event on Mother’s Day

Woman of Worth, a non-profit organisation, hosted a mother daughter love event in honour of Mother’s Day.

On May 11, Woman of Worth, a non-profit organisation, hosted a Mother Daughter Love event in honour of Mother’s Day at Phomolong Recreational Centre in Tembisa.

Phomolong women were invited to the five-hour event along with their daughters. Busisiwe Rathumbu, the founder of Women of Worth, invited along her mother, husband, and mother-in-law.

The session began with gospel songs and a prayer. During the event, the attendants were offered drinks and snacks to refresh before the question and answer session. The mothers in the house were given motivational letters as Mother’s Day presents from the Women of Worth group. Guest speakers were invited to motivate and empower women. Among the speakers were Dimakatso Pascaline Sehularo, Bongiwe Mbebe and Sphesihle Mchunu.

Bongiwe talked about the importance of building a good relationship.

“It is important that you connect with one another because it would be easier to tackle issues when they arise.”

Dimakatso touched on the subject of forgiveness.

She said it is important to forgive because the minute you learn to do so, you free yourself of a burden.

“When you forgive someone who does not show remorse, show love from a distance and let restoration begin,” said Dimakatso.

Busisiwe said the goal was for the women to mend things with their daughters and let them know they are acknowledged.

“The event was very successful with the number of people who turned up. It was exciting, it actually exceeded the number we had expected,” said Busisiwe.
