Alleged fridge killer’s bail application abandoned in Kempton court

Murder accused Elhadji Adama Kebe’s bail application was abandoned at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

The bail application of murder accused Elhadji Adama Kebe was abandoned in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Kebe was arrested on April 26 after the body of Sibongile Zenzile (28) was found beheaded on a bed in a flat on West Street. Her head was found in a fridge in the flat.

Kebe’s address couldn’t be confirmed as his landlord said Kebe was not allowed to return to his property and his family had distanced themselves from him, the court heard.

The case was postponed to May 28. Kebe will remain in custody pending his next court appearance.

“The case was postponed as the post-mortem report and photographs of the scene were outstanding,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“Once all documents required are submitted, the trial date is expected to be set on May 28.”

Community members also gathered at the court, still demanding Kebe be denied bail.

Lindiwe Malindisa, ANC Women’s League Young Women’s Desk provincial coordinator, was among the supporters. She told Express they were happy with what they heard in court.

“We appreciate the support of the men and women who gathered here today to stand strong,” said Malindisa.

“We will be back on May 28 and we invite more community members to join us because we are tired of the violence and abuse against women. We can’t allow these perpetrators to roam the streets.”
