Sonrise’s annual winter drive to help Sebokeng pre-school

Some 15 years ago, an informal settlement pre-school in Sebokeng was adopted through a joint effort between Sonrise Community Church of Christ and Sonrise Christian School in Edleen.

This pre-school receives no subsidies or grants and was entirely dependent on the meagre donations from its local community to educate and feed the 60-odd children attending the pre-school.

As part of the assistance now given to the pre-school, an annual winter drive is arranged to collect much-needed warm clothing to distribute among the toddlers attending the pre-school.

Sonrise school staff, church and community members either knit or buy scarves, gloves and beanies and donate them to the pre-school every year.
