‘Super woman’ wins groceries at Glen Acres SPAR

To celebrate SPAR’s 56th birthday, 56 000 lucky shoppers won their groceries.

Athenea Cramer from Kempton Park is a modern-day super woman.

While taking care of four children with her loving husband Lee, she also has three sideline businesses outside her corporate job. Needless to say, she got a well-deserved break when she recently won groceries to the value of more than R3 300 with the SPAR Go Big competition.

“The truth is that it’s hard to have to find money to pay for everything. I have three businesses that I am running on the side. I am trying to get these businesses up and running. Having a big family is wonderful but one needs money to pay for school tuition, toiletries and other stuff for the kids. It’s a lot,” said Athenea.

She chooses to shop at her Glen Acres SPAR since, she says, it makes life easier.

“We love going there because we save a lot with the SPAR Rewards programme. It’s a great way for SPAR to say thank you to customers,” said Athenea.

Athenea got a well-deserved break on May 5 when she was doing her weekly grocery shopping at SPAR Glen Acres.

“When a whistle blew, I thought I was being arrested. But the cashier said I had won. I asked her what did I win? She said I won all of my groceries. I am so incredibly grateful,” she said.

With the money she saved, Athenea treated herself to a new pair of shoes and had her nails done. “I paid my daughter’s tuition and bought more groceries but I also spoiled myself. One never has money for oneself,” she said.

Besides taking care of their own three children, she and her husband also helps to raise her domestic’s child. “The children are all very close in age and it is so wonderful that they get along. We give them what they need,” she said.

To celebrate SPAR’s 56th birthday, 56 000 lucky shoppers won their groceries. The campaign ran from April 23 to May 19. All you had to do to enter was to buy any participating products in store and swipe your SPAR Rewards card.

Andreas Stephanou, senior manager of SPAR Glen Acres, said there was nothing better than seeing a customer benefit.

“We have a mutual relationship with our customers. It makes us happy to see customers get something extra like winning their groceries. It is something totally different,” said Stephanou.
