Children have fun at annual church camp

The five churches that organised the event are Maranatha Community Church, Kaleideo, NG Kempton Hoogland and NG Bonaero Park.

Five churches in Kempton Park united for the second instalment of #ImagineKidz recently.

The event, held at Kaleideo Church in Glen Marais, saw about 80 youngsters gather for the educational and fun-filled weekend.

The five churches were Maranatha Community Church, Kaleideo, NG Kempton-Kruin, NG Hoogland and NG Bonaero Park.

“Through the event, we teach children to look differently at the world, love differently and live differently and how they can change the world by doing that,” said Kaleideo Church’s Anli Sadie, who was also one of the organisers.

Children from Kempton Park gathered for the #ImagineKidz camp at Kaleideo Church on May 4. Joclyn Pretorius (9) and Danielle Naidoo (9) show off their craft pieces.

“We had children from ages seven to 12 learn and have fun at the camp. All the churches prepared different tasks in line with the topics and the children were put in groups and rotated to the different stations.”

The two-day camp included talks, dance, arts, crafts, music, face painting and games.

Idéle Swanepoel (12), Jolene Meyer (11), Aneska Botha (11) and Celise Meyer (11) bonded quite well at the camp and were happy to meet and make new friends.

“It was really amazing to work together in the community to spread the love of God. We love children and also had lots of fun over the two days. We want the world to change to become a better place and we are starting with the children,” said Sadie.

“We appreciate the help and time of all our volunteers who came and helped mentor and assist with the children. Thank you to all the churches and community members who joined hands for this great purpose. We hope to take the successes to the following year.”
