Temiba Hospital nurses speak out about their jobs

International Nurses Day makes Tembisa Tertiary Hospital nurses proud.

Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital recently celebrated International Nurses Day 2019 under the theme of The Balance of Mind, Body and Spirit.

Nurses were acknowledged and rewarded for their hard work. The Tembisan asked them to comment on how they feel and this is what they had to say:

Unathi Lekhuleni said: “We would love the community to work well with nurses. I like nursing because my grandmother was a nurse and a good one. She told me to study nursing. We appeal to management to help us further our studies.”

Xitshembiso Bila said: “I feel honoured today because I have been working very hard. I thank the management. We are many in this hospital, but I was chosen for the award. I promise to continue doing a great job.”

Margret Chuene said: “I have been working at Tembisa Hospital for nine years and I feel honoured to be appreciated by the management. Sometimes our job is difficult due to patients’ attitudes, but I am here for a purpose.”

Phuti Kubo said: “I started nursing in 2006 and what I like about this profession is the teamwork. I get motivated when a patient smiles because some patients are so sick they are unable to even say ‘thank you’. Nurses are born to be nurses as opposed to other careers.”

Lydia Chauke said: “I want to do more as I was chosen for the awards. I have been working here for 32 years. Those years were challenging, but you just tell yourself that you are here to give the best care.”
