Hell Razors raise hope for caravan community

"Just because we like to party and ride bikes doesn't mean we're bad people," one biker said about the charity drive.

Around 80 bikers with big hearts gathered at the Hell Razors Clubhouse on Dann Road on May 25, to kick-start their charity drive for the Fairwinds Caravan Park in Benoni.

“It’s important that we do our bit for society,” said road captain of the club Paul Hulley. “We must serve our community before we can serve ourselves.”

The Hell Razors was established in 1993 and each year the Hell Razor of the Year gets to choose a charity for the annual charity drive. The Hell Razor of the Year is chosen based on their dedication to the club, who they are as a person, and how many functions they attend.

This year, the honour was bestowed on biker Darren Moyle, who has been a member of the club for eight years.

“I decided on Fairwinds because the community is really struggling,” Moyle told Express. A small truck filled with warm clothes and food will hopefully assist them in the cold months to come.

“Just because we like to party and ride bikes doesn’t mean we’re bad people,” Moyle added. “We also want to do our part.”
