The Department of Social Development is urgently looking for the family or guardian of a child aged between eight and nine years.
According to social worker Clarah Ngomane, the child’s name is Thabo Vundla.
It is believed the child was brought to Thusanong Children’s Home in Kaalfontein by an unknown police official who used to work at the Ivory Park Police Station.
The child was wrapped in a towel and was put next to the river in Ivory Park.
“The child had nothing to identify him. It was reported the names and surname of the parents are unknown. He was taken to Thusanong Children’s Home, where he stayed about six to seven years without statutory intervention,” said Ngomane.
