Youth must arm themselves with education
The event was organised by the Isithembiso Sama Krestu Church.
The chairperson of Faith Based Organisation, Bishop Michael Mtshali, has urged young people to arm themselves with education.
He said the youth of 1976 fought for a different cause and today’s young people face a different struggle which must be unlocked through education.
“It is important to arm yourselves with education and learn to be humble and respectful at all times.
“The present and the future demand of us to be learned and knowledgeable. I appeal to young people to prioritise education because society dies due to lack of wisdom and knowledge,” said Mtshali.
Mtshali spoke during the youth fund-raising seminar held at the Ethiopian Church of Christ in Baxa section on Saturday.
The event was organised by the Isithembiso Sama Krestu Church.

“Young people are dying because they want to live and succeed on other people’s legacies. Get an education and build your own legacies.
It may take time to build your own brighter future, but soldier on and keep in mind that the road to success isn’t always rosy,” advised Mtshali.
He also urged young people to take the lead and make things happen for themselves instead of always complaining about the government and lack of job opportunities.
“There’s a group of young people in Soweto who has started their own dustbin cleaning business. They saw an opportunity and are now making a living out of cleaning dirty dustbins at a certain fee. You also need to think outside the box and be the creators of employment,” he advised.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers of this fund-raising seminar, Poppie Thulare said proceeds collected will be donated to charity organisations or struggling schools within the area in July, during Mandela Month.
