Driver airlifted to hospital after accident on Allandale Road

The patient from the car was treated on scene and once stabilised, transported to hospital by ambulance

The driver of a bakkie was airlifted from an accident scene on Allandale Road between Kyalami Race Track and the N1 on Thursday morning.

According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, the accident happened around 8.15am.

“Reports from the scene indicated that a light delivery vehicle and a light motor vehicle were involved in a collision, allegedly caused by an oil spill. Paramedics assessed the scene and found that an adult male from the car sustained moderate injuries and an adult male from the bakkie had sustained serious injuries,” Herbst said.

Due to the seriousness of the bakkie driver’s injuries, the Netcare 1 Specialised Helicopter Air Ambulance was called to airlift the patient to hospital.
