Kempton’s own ‘drunk driving unit’ nets 30 drivers over long weekend
The trio has thus far for the month of June arrested 42 suspected drunk drivers in Kempton Park.

Thirty drivers were arrested for driving under the influence during an intensive operation launched by the Kempton Park precinct of the metro police.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the metro police, said the special operation lasted from June 14 to 17 and was aimed at eradicating drunk driving in the Kempton Park CBD and adjoining areas.
The Kempton Park precinct commander deployed three officers for the duration of the long weekend to hunt and arrest those found driving under the influence. From Friday night up to Saturday morning, 18 arrests were made, on Sunday seven were apprehended and on Monday five ended up behind bars.

The 30 arrested drivers were detained at Kempton Park Police Station, where charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol were registered.
