Tembisa TV star wants young people to take charge
The current generation needs to realise their potential and make use of the opportunities all around them
As Youth Month comes to an end, one of Mzansi’s finest actors, Sboniso Nxumalo, wants young people to take charge of their lives and make the most of it.
Nxumalo is best known for his starring role as Oscar, Zamani’s maternal uncle and security guard at Santa Barbara, in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso.
The Empangeni-born acting maestro, who now resides in Tembisa, says young people are the future leaders of this country and therefore cannot afford to drop the ball.
“Young people need to realise that they are the future of this country and therefore need to start preparing and nurturing that future today.
“They need to be made aware that if they take care of their todays, they will have automatically taken care of their tomorrows,” says Nxumalo.
This talented television star argues that, unlike the youth of yesteryear, the current generation has vast opportunities to enable them to soar to even greater heights.
“The current generation needs to realise their potential and make use of the opportunities all around them to be able to build a better life, not only for themselves, but also for the next generations to come.
“If I was able to come from KwaZulu-Natal and make something of my life, what is stopping our local young people from doing even way greater things than some of us?” asks Nxumalo.
“The youth of today want to be spoon-fed and handed things on a silver platter. They need to change their attitudes and start fighting and building their lives by taking charge and making sober decisions that will turn this country into a much better place for everyone to live in,” he continues.
His is a story of hard work, perseverance and dedication and he argues that young people can take a leaf out of his book (life).
Nxumalo says he would like to help groom young people, especially those in rural areas who want to build a career in this industry.
