NPO scouts for Ivory Park talent

Edutainment for entertaining while educating.

Pusha Brand Edutainment, a non-profit organisation, hosted the Ivory Park Talent Scout Show at Ivory Park Community North Hall on June 16.

There were different types of art presented on stage, which included music, dance and poetry. Three poets were chosen as the winners, namely Bathi Siyafana, Tripatite and Hlaba Lapho The Poet. Siyafana took first place; Tripatite, second place; and Hlaba Lapho The Poet, third place. All the winners were given RolleVille clothing brand caps and T-shirts.

Mangope ‘Nerdy’ Lesufi said it was the first project run by Pusha Brand Edutainment and they hoped to recruit talent and have a variety of acts under one roof.

“We want to market the artists and adopt them as part of Edutainment. To do so, we had to partner with local brands to grow together,” said Lesufi.

Regina Maphosa, one of the adjudicators, said that it is important for the audience to hear or see the message the artist wants to convey.

“Rappers need to be able to rap without background music, dancers need to use the space on stage and poets need to be fluent and speak sensibly,” said Maphosa.

Pusha Brand Edutainment spokesperson Audacious Nkanyiso Mbobola said they partnered with Xclsc, MC Brand, Nerdy Poetic, Draft Films and RolleVille for the first annual event.

“The businesses we partnered with need some of the acts to be their brand ambassadors as art on stage is a perfect form of entertainment,” said Mbobola.
