A suspected drug dealer operating in then Kempton Park central business district, who had been arrested three times in one month, has been released on warning pending his court appearance in September. He faces two charges of dealing in drugs.
Collins Okafor (35), a Nigerian national, was arrested by the metro police on June 5. He was previously arrested on May 7 and 21.
According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, Okafor has been released on warning, and is due to appear in court in September.
After his arrest on June 5, he was refused bail and remanded in custody until his next appearance in court on June 14. The matter has been postponed to September 10 in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court. He was released on warning.
According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the metro police, Okafor was apprehended at his Long Street flat on June 5 after a tip-off from the public. Metro police officers allegedly found kat, a form of drug, worth R5 000, in his possession. They also found a false asylum seeker’s document and R250 cash.
Mokheseng confirmed that at the time of his third arrest, he already had two previous drug charges pending against him.
