Rand Water wants Ekurhuleni to retract statement about water

In the meantime the work on the B11 Pipeline Shutdown remains on schedule

Rand Water is in discussions with the City of Ekurhuleni to retract a statement the City issued regarding potential water shortages in the metro.

In Rand Water’s update at 1.30pm spokesperson Justice Mohale said they noted a social media advisory issued by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality of potential water shortages in part of that municipality due to the B11 shutdown.

“We are in discussions with senior management at the municipality for that advisory to be retracted. Our reservoirs supplying the Ekurhuleni Local Municipality are stable.”

In the meantime the work on the B11 Pipeline Shutdown remains on schedule. The Rand Water network is operational and stable and allreservoirs are meeting demand.

“We also have not received reports from our municipal customers of interruptions to the service due to the work being done with the shutdown,” said Mohale.

“Emfuleni Local Municipality has granted ESKOM permission to execute a shutdown at its Sonlandpark Substation. This will have an impact on our Langerrand Reservoir. We are monitoring this situation very closely.”
