EMPD appoints two new deputy directors

Both worked themselves up the ranks from constable to inspector, superintendent, chief superintendent and now to deputy directors

Two experienced officers, who between them have amassed 45 years of experience in law enforcement, were appointed in deputy director posts at the EMPD operations division.

Both worked themselves up the ranks from constable to inspector, superintendent, chief superintendent and now to deputy directors. The appointments were with effect from June 1.

Deputy Director Bob Tokelo Motshabi started working at the erstwhile Boksburg Traffic department as a traffic warden in 1995. In 2000 he obtained his metro police diploma as a constable and was promoted to an inspector in 2003.

Motshabi became a superintendent in 2006 and obtained another promotion to chief superintendent post in 2014 until he was elevated to deputy director in June. Motshabi at the time of his promotion to deputy director post was the precinct commander in Germiston. As a deputy director he has been deployed at OR Tambo International Airport. He has 24 years experience as a metro police officer.

The other new appointee promoted from chief superintendent to deputy director was Nomawethu Patience Mafa. Mafa started her career in law enforcement in Edenvale as a traffic warden in 1998.

She obtained her metro police diploma in 2000 and was promoted to an inspector in 2004, then to superintendent in 2009.

She worked herself up to chief superintendent in 2014. Mafa was the precinct commander in Benoni. In her new post she was deployed at the EMPD regional office operations in Springs.

She has 21 years service at EMPD.
