Birchleigh Church honours Vacation Bible Experience children

The camp involved teaching the children about Bible stories and also set out to teach and produce Bible plays and sing-alongs.

During the three-week school holiday, members of the Every Nation Church in Birchleigh led their youth to participate in the Vacation Bible Experience (VBX) camp and issued them their certificates on Saturday.

Upon entering, the church was filled with the joyful sounds of children singing and dancing on stage. Their leader, Calsile Makhele (35), told Express that this was part of the annual winter camping experience as they set out to teach the children Bible stories, songs and prayers.

“It was for all children 15 years and under. The church had a programme for five days. The camp started on June 30 where it was hosted at Silver Cloud, Bela-Bela.” The programme used to organise the camp was structured by Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Makhele also explained that the programme was not only designated for children who frequent the church, but invited any children from the community who sought to know God. “The Every Nation Church normally caters for the children in the community. For example, this year we collected donations so that we could pay for the community children’s expenses.”

Saturday marked the last day of the programme and one of the mothers preached about starting Christian education for children from a very young age so that they may never dwell off the path that God lays out for them.

Each child who was in attendance on the camp was handed a certificate for knowing Jesus and received a gift bag filled with goodies like Bible story books and sweets.
