Ebony Park’s Mthombeni encourages youth to support NGOs
Mthombeni also said he has volunteered at a number of NGOs, including Tumelo’s Home for the Mentally Handicapped
Nkosana Mthombeni, a resident of Ebony Park Extension Four, recently completed the Young African Leadership Initiative (Yali) programme, where he obtained a certificate in public management and governance.
Mthombeni said in line with Youth Month, he would like to use his achievement to inspire the youth of Tembisa to take advantage of such development programmes to learn as much as they can so they can use the knowledge gained to make positive changes in their community.
“I am currently also pursuing a postgraduate degree with Unisa after completing a Bachelor of Business in Administration degree with Pearson Institute of Higher Education. I also attended Allanridge Secondary School,” said Mthombeni.
“We all can access different projects and programmes to enhance our knowledge and skills, and for better employment chances and gaining experience,” added Mthombeni.
Mthombeni also said he has volunteered at a number of NGOs, including Tumelo’s Home for the Mentally Handicapped.
“The centre has taught me the importance of such NGOs in communities because they provide much-needed support to government in solving social challenges and alleviating the plight of impoverished communities,” said Mthombeni.
“I would like to encourage young local community members to always spare a thought for the centre, especially on days like Mandela Day, by making donations or doing as little as donating their time to such worthy causes. It goes a long way in ensuring they are able to continue doing the important work they do,” explains Mthombeni.
If community members are interested in helping, they can visit the centre at 2717 September Drive, Ivory Park Ext Two or contact Sarah Makola on 011 074 8353 or email admin@tumelohome.co.za
