Books donated to care centre’s library
Tembisa pageant donates books to a home Tshepang Care Centre.
The Miss Tembisa pageantry donated books to Tshepang Care Centre in Vusimuzi on July 6.
The care centre opened its library last month, in partnership with different stakeholders, for the community.
Isando Post Office employees also played their part in organising the books for the library. They donated a trolley full of books. Percy Mabaso, Isando Post Office chief teller, said Tankiso Ngkontsi, one of the Miss Tembisa finalist, approached him with a request to sponsor books for the centre.
“My colleagues were helpful in organising the books. This is an investment in our future because what will the future be if we do not prepare the youth now,” said Mabaso.
Ngkontsi said she appreciated the post office workers donating books, and even giving more than she had expected.

“The books will make a huge difference because every child deserves a chance to be educated,” said Ngkontsi.
Sarah Sibiya, the founder of the Tshepang Care Centre, said they opened the library to also alleviate the illiteracy rate in the surrounding neighbourhood.
“There are children who have started to come in for hours and study in the library since the launch. We also need to be trained as to how to became librarians,” said Sibiya.
“The books are much appreciated, but we still have the electricity challenges since we are in an informal settlement. We can not get connectivity to Wi-Fi and computers,” added Sibiya.
Ratile Mabitsela, Miss Tembisa pageant founder, said they need to teach each finalist of the importance of leadership and involvement in charity work.
“Each pageant finalist had agreed to donate books to the care centre, from management to the finalists. Everyone contributed something.
“The final for the pageant will be held in November, with details still to be announced,” said Mabitsela.
