Stakeholders meeting at Tembisa South to find a solution to drug abuse
Drug awareness campaign at Sam Hlalele Hall
The Tembisa South SAPS hosted their monthly stakeholders meeting at the Tembisa South Police Station on July 5.
The event was aimed at finding sponsors to support the main drug awareness event to be held at Sam Hlalele Hall on July 12 from 9am to 1pm
Sgt Nonjabulo Mogale said the aim of the event is to educate community about drugs and substance abuse.
“On the day of the event, different speakers will address the youth about the dangers of using drugs, and of how to get help from rehabilitation centres, and to help them abstain from using drugs and how to report crime,” explains Mogale.
“By changing the mind-set of the youth we will help to empower them to value their lives, and avoid all criminal activities,” said Mogale.
Bishop Michael Mtshali and chairperson of the Faith Based-Organisation said: “This initiative will bring the youth closer to the police as we all to know we need to collaborate to fight crime.”
