11-year-old Aston Manor girl holds raffle for SPCA

Aston Manor resident, Angela Steven (11), raised over R200 through a raffle she organised.

Kempton Park SPCA staff was touched by the recent efforts of Aston Manor resident Angela Steven (11).“Angela, in her own capacity, organised a raffle to raise money for the SPCA,” said Kira Sparrow, manager at Kempton Park SPCA.

“She managed to raise R223.20 through her raffle. We were all touched that such a young child thought to do something this special for the society.”

Angela’s proud father, Craige, said his daughter, who is in Aston Manor Primary School, is a big animal lover.

“She went to the principal and told him about her idea and he supported it and gave her the go-ahead.

“She organised a hamper as a prize and she ran the raffle in her Grade Six class for about two weeks. I am extremely proud of her and very impressed.

“Some of her teachers also helped and we are truly grateful. Thank you to the principal as well for allowing Angela to do the raffle.”

The thoughtful donation touched the hearts of many at the society.

“It’s the best to see young people getting involved and taking the initiative to support us,” said Kira.
