Thuthuka Youth Club awards exceptional learners

The beneficiaries were from two schools - Phuthumani Primary School and Umthambeka Primary School

On July 15, Thuthuka Youth Club gave certificates to learners who performed well at an arts festival hosted on June 13.

Thuthuka Youth Club’s managing director, Mapitso Motaung, said they rewarded seven outstanding participants with certificates.

“We had a successful first annual Tembisa Art Alive event at T-SHAD, and therefore we had to recognise exceptional talent. We will continue hosting the festival and be dedicated to honour talent in Tembisa schools as a whole,” said Motaung.

She said they were proven correctly in their previous judgement at the auditions that Tembisa has unique and priceless talent that needs to nurtured.

Motaung said the beneficiaries were from two schools – Phuthumani Primary School and Umthambeka Primary School – that took part in the festival.

“We want to revive arts in local schools and educate the young and old about life, theatre and the arts festivals that deal with youth challenges. We need to bring back the spirit of ubuntu within our society. Parents were very supportive and they attended the festival. We received a positive response from school principals and we encourage Thuthuka Youth Club to continue inspiring learners to make arts a career,” said Motaung.

Tembisa Art Alive will host their event in December and interested drama groups can call 065 302 1429.
