Local fashion influencer struts his stuff at Durban July
'I used to picture myself on the red carpet, and so this year I went and it was like nothing else in the world'
Local fashionista Harvey Khomola made his presence felt during the annual Durban July ball in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, a fortnight ago.
Khomola stole the show with his two-piece outfit designed by local designer Sibusiso Yanti of Xoli Designs.
“It has always been my dream to be part of the Durban July festivities, especially in the fashion circles. And since this was my first time there, I needed to make a statement,” said Khomola.
Khomola, a passionate fashion influencer, said rubbing shoulders with the country’s celebrities and socialites has opened up his world.
“I used to picture myself on the red carpet, and so this year I went and it was like nothing else in the world. I normally attend shows such as Fashion Week and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but there’s nothing that compares to Durban July. Fashion there is on point and on top of the world,” he said.
“What I have learnt there is that fashion is very broad, unlike locally where you are limited because people are afraid of dressing up, and that there are different ways of expressing yourself through fashion. So for me, as someone who still wants to grow in the fashion industry, I really learnt a lot. I don’t have to limit myself because I am also there with your so-called celebrities,” went on Khomola.
“I am trying to push myself as a future brand to be reckoned with so I can work with other big brands, pushing different campaigns and adverts. I am really passionate about fashion,” he concluded.
