The breathalyzer allegedly showed the man testing 1.39mg while the legal limit is a breath alcohol content of 0.24mg per 1 000ml.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol on Modderfontein Road on Thursday morning while taking his niece to school.

The breathalyser allegedly showed the man testing 1.39mg, while the legal limit is a breath alcohol content of 0.24mg per 1 000ml.

Ofentse Morwane, Gauteng Department of Community Safety’s director of communications, told Express the suspect was arrested and detained at Sandringham Police Station.

“Driving under the influence is one of the major contributors to road fatalities in the province and our law-enforcement agencies will continue to deal with those who disregard the rules of the road,” said Morwane.
