Blind biker to attend Jacob’s Vision run in Benoni on Saturday
Thirteen years ago Jacob Kruger was involved in an accident that left him blind.
The annual Jacob’s Vision Run will take place on July 27 at Plot no 29, Hazel Road, Benoni Agricultural Holdings. from 9am.
Thirteen years ago, Jacob Kruger, riding his motorcycle, was involved in an accident that left him blind.
Kruger learnt how to live and work around his blindness and to represent to all visually impaired people that “there are no limits other than those which you apply to yourself”.
As a true biker and ambassador for the blind, Kruger thought there’s no better way to demonstrate this vision and creed than by getting on a track at Redstar Raceway in July last year. With the help of Ian Howard, who guided Kruger on the basis of trust and sensory abilities, and ensuring his safety at all times, he completed five laps around the track.
At this year’s event he will demonstrate his off-road biking capabilities. At the event different kinds of challenges will be set up to allow participants to understand various forms of adaptation.
To attend the run, a minimum donation of R50 is required per person over the age of 13, which will include a cloth badge and entrance into the lucky draw. This event will have multiple food stalls, novelty shops and plenty of entertainment for adults and children.
Guests can also expect a fully stocked cash bar and generous prizes will be handed out. Kruger invites all to join his journey by donating and raising funds for the event. All proceeds raised will go towards Guide Dogs SA and Jacob’s Vision.
“We would like to call on all business owners and the entire community to please help us raise funds for this awesome cause.”
