Taxi drives into truck on Andrew Mapheto Drive
A passenger was flung through a taxi's windscreen when the taxi she was travelling in collided with a truck.
On July 23 between 7am and 8am, a taxi filled with passengers drove into a truck on the corner of Andrew Mapheto Drive and SM Songo Avenue, leaving one person injured.
According to bystanders, the injured woman was thrown through the taxi’s windscreen; an ambulance rushed her to hospital.
No fatalities were reported so far and EMPD officers on scene were working hard to determine the cause of the accident.
Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson Eric Maloka said they were not aware of the accident, but more details will be given as soon as clear information becomes available.
According to the driver of the truck, when he approach the traffic light it was already turning red from caution (yellow) and when he stopped he just heard a loud bang.
When he went out to check, there was a taxi that drove into his truck, and he does not know how that actually happened.
The taxi driver could not comment as to how he drove into the truck.
