Two people became victims of bank-followings in Rhodesfield and Glen Marais recently.
In both incidents the victims were held at gunpoint.
The first incident occurred on July 19 around 3pm when a female victim withdrew money from Woodbridge Mall.
Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, said the victim was followed to her home in Glen Marais.
“The victim said she was waiting for her garage door to open when she was approached by three suspects in a grey VW Golf,” said Ditshego.
“The suspects pointed a firearm at her and instructed her to open her window. When she did, they asked her about the money. She told them it was in the boot and she was instructed to open the boot. They went to her boot and took the plastic bag that had R35 000 inside and got into their vehicle and drove off.”
The second incident occurred the following day (July 20) in Rhodesfield.
“The victim said he was fetching his car at the Gautrain Station when he was held at gunpoint. He had withdrawn R50 000 in Bonaero Park and got robbed at gunpoint by two suspects at the station,” said Ditshego.

“We advise that they find safer ways to transfer money to pay their intended recipient/s, such as EFT.”
