Three killed in horror accident on Ben Schoeman Highway

Circumstances leading up to the collision will be investigated by the JMPD who were on scene.

Three people died in the early hours of Friday morning following a head-on collision on the N1 Ben Schoeman Highway Pretoria direction.

According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, the accident happened shortly before 2am.

“Reports from the scene indicated that a light motor vehicle and an SUV were involved in a head-on collision. Paramedics assessed the scene and found that the driver of the SUV, an adult male, had sustained fatal injuries and he was declared deceased on the scene,” said Herbst.

The passenger of the SUV, an adult female, was in a critical condition. Despite full advanced life support resuscitation she succumbed to her injuries on the scene.

The driver of the light motor vehicle, an adult male, also died on impact.

Herbst said a Netcare 911 rescue technician as well as fire and rescue services used multiple hydraulic tools to free all the patients from the wreckage.
