WATER UPDATE: Metro warns about longer restoration period
Reservoirs have reached a lower level than anticipated
Although repairs to the damaged Rand Water pipeline had been completed earlier on Monday, the City of Ekurhuleni on Monday afternoon warned about low water pressure.
Rand Water has started to pump water through the pipeline. However, due to the extent of the repairs and the longer duration of the work, most reservoirs are at lower levels that anticipated, said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro.

“This has affected critical points of the reticulation network. We therefore foresee a slight delay in having the network stable as the system is filled with air. Full restoration will probably be at 10pm on Monday night. Residents are advised that supply will be at a low pressure in the meantime and pressure will be adjusted later in relation to demand.
“Consumers are advised to use water sparingly during the restoration period, while supply reaches all areas, especially high-laying areas.”
