On July 24, concerned sponsors presented a new vehicle in a bid to help the Tembisa South Community Policing Forum (CPF) to fight crime.

Different sponsors joined hands in acquiring the new bakkie that will help one vehicle that is based at Tembisa SAPS.

Chairperson for Tembisa South CPF Skhumbuzo Alexander thanked all sponsors who contributed in acquiring the vehicle.

“We are excited about the vehicle, the donated computers, walkie-talkies and reflective vests.

“I thank all of you for assisting us in fighting crime,” said Alexander.

Tomas Mathebula, who was instrumental in getting sponsors to acquire the vehicle, said very happy as his dream came true.

“We have been waiting for such help for a long time.

“One van is serving Tembisa and now Tembisa South SAPS can transport themselves while serving the community,” said Mathebula.

Chairperson for the community police board Andrew Mosesi said Tembisa South police is blessed to have sponsors coming on board to aid their fight against crime.

“This vehicle will definitely assist the CPF to get around easily and transport patrollers as they do operations with the police,” said Mosesi.

He said the vehicle will help CPF to be accessible quickly when the community needs them.

Manny Ferreirinha of the Portuguese Forum said he is one of the sponsors because he understands the dire conditions the CPF members work in.

“With the success of patrolling in the Winnie Mandela area, I could easily convince sponsors to donate a second vehicle for patrollers.

“The first vehicle is eight years old now and I am impressed how they look after it.

“We will never stop going to donors, its just that the donors need to trust someone they are going to donate to,” Ferreirinha answered when asked about the possibility of future donations.

The vehicle will be serving areas covered by the Tembisa South Police Station.
