Tembisa Chess Club, in conjunction with Shabangu Skills Foundation, will be hosting a Chess Tournament for juniors at Tembisa YES for Youth Centre on November 16.

Five local primary schools are invited to this closed tournament. The invited schools have been given lessons by Tembisa Chess Club and Shabangu Skills Foundation chess coaches.

Peace Shabangu, chairperson of Shabangu Skills Foundation, said this tournament is to test the level of knowledge of the learners and prepare a Tembisa Junior team and help them get provincial colours.

“The tournament will be hosted on November 16 from 9am to 2pm. Format will be seven-round Swiss. All participants will receive a participation certificate and the top team will walk away with trophy and medals,” said Shabangu.
