Police nail 158 suspects in Tembisa

A 29-year-old woman was arrested for abusing and assaulting an 11-year-old boy

A total of 158 suspects were arrested over the past weekend and charged with different offences, ranging from assault, reckless and negligent driving to culpable homicide.

According to police spokesperson Capt  Manyadza Ralidzhivha, the Ekurhuleni district law enforcement officers were involved in a number of operations within all the nine policing stations, which yielded positive results.

“We have had a successful weekend during our joint operation to clean our streets. We have managed to arrest and charge suspects with serious crimes such as murder, drunk driving and children abuse,” said Manyadza.

He said a 29-year-old woman was arrested for abusing and assaulting an 11-year-old boy. And in another case, a suspect was apprehended by community members after he was found in possession of a car battery, car radio and DVD remote control, suspected to have been stolen in Olifantsfontein.

And a 51-year-old woman was arrested and charged with murder, following the gruesome discovery of the body of a man in the streets of Mashemong Section.
