Ekurhuleni ‘hooligan’ takes the internet by storm

This weather fanatic's idol is comedian Barry Hilton and he aspires to become the most successful weather presenter in the country.

Presenting weather in a fun and unique way has turned Juandré Voster into an internet sensation known as The Weather Hooligan.

The 35-year-old oil quality control inspector explained he had a love for weather since he was a boy.

This fascination never faded and about three years ago Juandré decided to start making videos of himself presenting weather reports.

“I have always had an interest in the weather.

“One of my friends, Cobus van Zyl, does his weather charts, and I use the data from Afri-Weather to compile my reports. I try to make my content unique and more interesting than weather reports on TV.

I am allowed to do these weather reports but must emphasise they are only my opinion,” he said.

Mitchell Krog and Angelo Ricardo are also assisting Juandré.

The Weather Hooligan believes his videos are popular as his content is fresh, adding that it took him about a year to get so many followers.

It is not only weather reporting that is close to Juandré’s heart as he is also a storm chaser.

South Africa experiences some of the highest levels of electric storms in the world and he drives into “the eye of the storm” to get his fans the best images and videos possible.

When asked about the name Weather Hooligan, Juandré said it described him perfectly because he is always running towards the storm instead of away from it.

This weather fanatic’s idol is comedian Barry Hilton and he aspires to become the most successful weather presenter in the country.

Juandré added that he also owns a vehicle he is driving around Gauteng to assist with storm chasing in storm season.

“The car has a good traction control system that helps if the conditions are slippery or muddy while we are chasing storms.

“Furthermore, the car is kitted with live CCTV cameras for live-streaming to our fans.

“The car has got 360 degrees cameras to record the storms too while we are driving,” he explained.
