With the hopes of bringing the crown home, Molomo is pleading with the community to demonstrate their love and support for him by voting for him to remain in the competition.

He was announced as one of the top 10 finalists of the Idols SA season 18.

“I entered the Idols competition because I felt physically and mentally prepared. This platform demands a person to have a strong emotional foundation in addition to a terrific voice; it may either build you up or completely demolish you.”

According to the artist, making the top 10 was the best feeling he had ever experienced.

“I was overwhelmingly happy and pleased that my followers had voted for me. The competition helps me develop both as a musician and as a person, which is what I value about it the most.

Thapelo Molomo wants to bring Ekasi the Idols crown.

“I’m pleased that it exposes me to other genres since I can see my growth week after week, and even the judges agree with me.

“I’m a good listener, and I accept criticism well. I never let the judges’ criticism bring me down, and I always maintain my head held high with a great attitude to carry out my musical journey well.”

He also says that he has faced difficulties with anxiousness during competitions, but overcomes the feeling once he is on stage.

“My weakness is that I tend to become slightly agitated when things do not go as planned or when I feel under weather due to nerves. I never want to feel ill on stage.”

The 29-year-old started as a young child singing in church choirs.

“At Phomolong Secondary, I joined the school choirs, and this is where I discovered I have singing skills.

“From there, I began to seriously consider music and further expose myself and expand my musical skills. I later joined prominent choirs like Benjamin Dube’s Spirit of Praise.

“When I started studying music professionally, that was it.

“My favourite aspect of being a singer is being able to speak honestly about my emotions and touching a lot of people who can connect to it.

“And the fact that musicians are not given enough support and that amazing talent is continuously kept secret is my least favourite part. It hurts me.

“My objective is for the entertainment business to be treated with the same respect as other professions.”
Molomo is a lover of local music.

“Oh my goodness, I like Master KG’s beats, and I hope to collaborate with him on a song in the future. He is such a brilliant individual, and his music always feels so current.

“I adore Ben Dube. In addition to being calming and connecting us to God through his music, he has been by far the most consistent artist I have ever known.

He has such lovely qualities, and I had the pleasure of working with him. He is modest and kind to other people

.“Worldwide, it has to be Sam Smith without a doubt, since he sings with such soul and I would collaborate with him at any time.”

The Idols contestant advice aspiring musicians to be good listeners.

“I can only advise a talented up-and-coming musician to be patient. Never give up on your dreams and talents.

Keep up the good work, and we’ll win the season in due time. I’ve acquired skills to be a fantastic performer because I’m respectful and attentive.

Additionally, it helps to get along with others, listen effectively, and take suggestions.

“I truly appreciate all of the words you send me on Facebook and Instagram. You are truly Godsend to me.”

To vote for Thapelo SMS the number 2 to 37400; each SMS costs R1.50.
