Four Thembisa men found quilty of murder and robbery

Suspects were found guilty of murder and robbery at the South Gauteng High Court and jailed on January 26.

Thando Ndimande, Phinda Tati, Andile Ndwe and Bonginkosi Masango from Thembisa were found guilty of murder and robbery at the South Gauteng High Court on January 26.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela, communications officer of the Ekurhuleni SAPS District, said that the victim was travelling from North Meadow Square Mall in Benoni on August 28, 2020, to withdraw R40 000 to pay his staff when a white VW Polo and a BMW followed the victim from the mall.

Sekgobela said two armed men approached the victim and demanded the money when he arrived at Chloorkop.

The victim was able to shoot at one of the men with his own gun. In retaliation, the victim was shot three times.

The armed suspect took R20 000 before he loaded his wounded partner in crime into the vehicle before speeding away.

“The victim was airlifted to the hospital.

“While at the crime scene the police received information that there was someone admitted at Zamukuhle Private Hospital with a gunshot wound.

“The suspect was taken into custody after the police arrived.

“The victim passed away in hospital two weeks later.

“Following further investigations, three other robbers connected to the crime were also detained.

“The case was brought to South Gauteng High where the suspects were charged with additional counts of robbery.

“Major General Anna Sithole, the commissioner of the Ekurhuleni District, expressed her gratitude to the investigating officer Sergeant ‘Rassi’ Raselomane of the Ekurhuleni North Trio Task Team for connecting all the dots that led to a successful outcomes.

“She also lauded the other officers who added value to the investigation,” said Sekgobela.
