Govender said that the company also believes in establishing long-term relationships with beneficiaries.

“A challenge that many schools currently face is access to clean water, and this became more prevalent during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2021, Air Products embarked on a new project to assist schools with access to this basic need.

“This project entailed the construction of wash stations which provide learners with easy access to drinking water.

“ Ingqayizivele Secondary School is one of the schools who formed part on this project,” said Govender.

Over a year ago Air Products launched their “‘Flow Campaign” through which they donate sanitary packs to female learners.

The aim of this campaign is to provide young ladies confidence and dignity.

Last year, sanitary packs were donated to female learners from the school as part of the “Flow Campaign”.

The most recent project at the school was to assist with the infrastructure development of the kitchen area which is used to feed approximately 1600 learners daily.

Air Products refurbished and equipped the container with shelves, built a counter area with gas cookers, wash and a serving area for the learners and created a shaded area where learners can sit and eat.

The new area enables the school to prepare meals and effectively manage the feeding scheme for the learners.

“Research shows that learners who follow a healthy diet obtain high academic grades. Sadly, low grades are often the result of learners not following healthy diets.

“Through this kitchen, Air Products aims to assist to ensure that all learners have access to healthy meals at school, which in turn would provide them with the nutrition to excel academically.

“We hope that these facilities will go a long way to take the learners to new heights,” Govender said.
