CR Swart Road gridlock will end soon
In two weeks, the CR Swart Drive renovation project, which is intended to reduce traffic will be completed.
Residents in areas bordering CR Swart Road have said ongoing construction on the road has been a nightmare for them.

They said they received little communication from the site supervisor.
Following an article in the May 4 edition of the Express, several residents raised further concerns about the CR Swart Road construction.

Tobias Verwey said the road is damaged beyond repair.
“There is no more sweeping of the road and the responsible contractor seems not to be on-site anymore.”
According to Verwey, he has tried to contact the supervisor but has not received any feedback.
Residents said they are also worried about load-shedding at night because the majority of streetlights along the road do not work.

Janien Potgieter said the lack of working traffic lights on CR Swart Road makes it dangerous for motorists.
“People just skip through the intersections and big crashes are bound to happen.”
Ward 104 Clr Tracey Lorenco confirmed that the project is in the final stage of completion with contractors trying to finish as soon as possible.
“The project is due to finish in two weeks as per the contractor,” said Lorenco.

An enquiry to the site supervisor at Modderhill Road, Sieke Zwane, was forwarded on May 20 and a comment was requested by May 26.
At the time of going to print, no comment was received from the site supervisor.
