Police nab 75 and recover stolen goods and unlicensed firearms

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

Rapid response services comprising the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 75 suspects, recovering 41 motor vehicles and eight firearms between May 5 and 11.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 25 arrests for serious crimes including assault GBH, contempt of court, possession of suspected stolen goods, house burglary, being illegal immigrants, malicious damage to property, robbery, bribery and fraud.

The team recovered 41 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles with 12 arrests for being in the possession of these vehicles.

They also recovered eight unlicensed firearms, with 10 accompanying arrests.

In further policing, they made 28 arrests for the possession of and dealing drugs. Heroin, dagga, Mandrax, cat (cocaine) and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
