EMPD recovers hijacked trailer with cargo valued at R600 000

There was no registration number and license disc on the trailer.

EMPD officers from the Bronberg Precinct recovered a hijacked trailer, including a container, in the Petit area on December 25.

According to EMPD spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, officers patrolled Pretoria Road when they noticed a suspicious trailer parked on the roadside.

The aluminium is valued at around R600 000.

On investigation, they discovered the trailer, carrying a container of aluminium, was hijacked at Durban Harbour.

“The trailer had no registration number or licence disc,” said Dlamini.

The owner of the trailer was contacted, who confirmed the aluminium cargo was valued at approximately R600 000.

The trailer and its contents were towed and secured for safekeeping.
