EMPD catches suspects stripping a stolen vehicle

The Toyota Hilux was reported stolen. Suspects were found by metro cops stripping the vehicle.

Officers of the EMPD swooped in on five men on a property in Katlehong – a township just outside Alberton – where the suspects were caught stripping a motor vehicle.

The operation was carried out on February 9.

The suspects were found stripping a standard oxide bronze coloured Toyota Hilux double cap that had been reported stolen.

The vehicle’s mats and seats were found on the floor of the property where the stripping was taking place.

It still unclear how officers traced the vehicle to the high-walled property it was being kept.

The five suspects are said to be foreign nationals. They will face charges of being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and possible immigration violation charges will be added depending on their statuses in the country as foreign nationals.
