ALERT: Deceptive duo posing as home buyers in Kempton Park

The pair have been active in Kempton Park twice this week and alter their appearances, wearing wigs, hats, and different clothing.

Kempton Park residents are urged to stay vigilant following a string of home scams involving two female suspects.

According to Norkem Park SAPS, the duo has been targeting homes in the area using deceptive tactics to gain entry.

“They often pose as potential home buyers or use other distractions to access properties,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira-Dookie .

In recent incidents at least three cellphones have been stolen in Birchleigh North, while the suspects have been active in Kempton Park twice this week.

Ferreira-Dookie said the pair frequently alter their appearances, wearing wigs, hats, and different clothing, making identification difficult.

“They also regularly switch vehicles, with none of the registration numbers linked to valid ownership.

How to Stay Safe

Police have shared the following crime prevention tips to help residents avoid falling victim to these scams:

🔹 Verify identities: Never allow strangers into your home without confirming their identity. Ask for identification and verify appointments beforehand.

🔹 Be cautious of unexpected visitors: If someone claims to be interested in buying property or seeking assistance, keep doors locked and conduct conversations outside.

🔹 Secure valuables: Keep cellphones, wallets, and other valuables out of sight to prevent opportunistic theft.

🔹 Report suspicious activity: If you notice unknown individuals behaving suspiciously, contact the police immediately.

🔹 Use security measures: Install cameras, use intercom systems, and avoid opening gates or doors without confirming the visitor’s identity.
