15-year-old arrested for alleged murder of 12-year-old sister

When questioned, the boy initially claimed he was involved in a fight at school on March 25 but later admitted he had fought with his sister.

Ivory Park police are investigating a murder case after a 15-year-old boy allegedly killed his 12-year-old sister during a violent altercation on March 25.

According to police, officers were on duty in the area when they received a complaint about a murder that had occurred during heavy rainfall.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela said officers proceeded to the scene, where they were shown the body of the young girl, who displayed no signs of life.

Paramedics were called and declared her dead on the scene.

The deceased had a single, deep stab wound to her upper body.

According to reports, it is alleged that the young girl’s parents were unaware of her whereabouts until they noticed bloodstains on the suspect’s clothes.

“When questioned, the boy initially claimed he had been involved in a fight at school. However, on further inquiry, he admitted to his parents that he had fought with his sister.”

The girl’s body was later discovered behind the house, within the yard.

She was found without underwear, though the circumstances surrounding this remain unclear.

When asked about the murder weapon, the suspect claimed to have discarded it but could not specify its location.

Specialised police units, including the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) and the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), were summoned to the scene.
