EMPD nabs suspects with illegal substances in Thembisa

Later that day in the Zamani Section, officers arrested a 29-year-old man who was found with 10 ziplock packets of cannabis and 10 packets of suspected crystal meth, valued at approximately R900.

Officers from EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) arrested four male suspects for possession and dealing in illicit substances on April 23 and 24.

EMPD media liaison officer Thabiso Makgatho confirmed that the arrests were made during a two-day operation in Duduza and Thembisa following intelligence-driven investigations.

Four suspects were apprehended after being found with illegal substances in Duduza and Thembisa.

“During a sting operation based on information received from crime intelligence in the Duduza area, officers proceeded to a residence on Cwayi Street,” said Makgatho.

“They arrested a 32-year-old male found in possession of 11 small Ziplock packets containing crystal meth, two packets of CAT, and R30 in cash. The drugs had an estimated street value of R1 200.”

On the same street, a 24-year-old male was also apprehended.

He was found with 20 ziplock packets of crystal meth and 10 packets of CAT, with an estimated value of R3 000.

Later that day in the Zamani Section, officers arrested a 29-year-old man who was found with 10 ziplock packets of cannabis and 10 packets of suspected crystal meth, valued at approximately R900.

Four suspects were apprehended after being found with illegal substances in Duduza and Thembisa.

The following day, officers proceeded to a residence in the Isiziba Section where a male suspect was discovered in possession of nine live ammunition rounds, R1 200 in cash, 18 brown plastic parcels wrapped in nyaope, and six packets containing suspected CAT.

The total estimated street value of the drugs was R840.

All suspects were detained at local police stations and face charges related to the possession of unlicensed ammunition and dealing in illicit substances.

They are expected to appear in court soon.
