Life sentence for Thembisa rapist who attacked ex-girlfriend
SAPS brings hope to the family of a victim.
Bheki Modau (34) was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his ex-girlfriend in Thembisa South.
The incident occurred on November 10, 2021, at around 20:00, when the victim was at her residence.
Modau arrived at her home and forced her into his car, taking her to his residence.
There, he forced a conversation with her, and when she refused, he forcibly undressed her, pushed her onto the bed, and raped her.
It later emerged that Modau had raped the victim previously on November 6, 2021.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela confirmed that a rape case was opened at SAPS Thembisa South and assigned to Detective Sergeant Reuben Tshirundu of the Thembisa Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
“The police traced and arrested the accused,” said Sekgobela.
Tshirundu and his team conducted a thorough investigation, gathering and submitting all the evidence needed to secure a conviction.
Modau was found guilty on June 20, 2025, in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Deputy district commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela commended Tshirundu and his team for their dedication to ensuring justice was served.
“Sergeant Tshirundu and his crew secured a good conviction, ensuring that rapists have no space in the district,” said Machakela.
